Talking about bipolar should be as natural as discussing any other medical issue. The disorder responds to medications when taken consistently. No one should have to feel ashamed that they have bipolar. We didn't ask to have it, after all. Genetics and environment determined that we would have bipolar.

When I was first diagnosed, I didn't talk about it much. But the disorder is part of me. It shapes my days and attempts to take over my thoughts. If I am not constantly aware of the negatives associated with bipolar, the dark side will win. Talking about it, sharing with others who have the disorder, gives me the power over it. That way I win.
