There will always be people who are biased when it comes to mental illnesses. But how can you tell if a person has a mental disorder? And if you don't know the person, how do you know which of the symptoms or addictions they have?

Having the diagnosis doesn't mean the person has every single issue related to the disorder. A person with a mental illness doesn't fit into a mold. We cannot take each person with bipolar and treat them alike.

The symptoms are varied and the people with the disorders are unique. Rarely can two people with the same mental illness diagnosis compare their problems and have them all match.

Therefore, judging someone because they have a mental illness shows a lack of respect to a person who just might be more compassionate, more understanding, and more patient than you are.
