Many people believe computer communication lacks emotion. Speaking to someone allows them to hear your voice and detect your mood. Typing gives nothing more than rows of words.
If you know a person well enough, you can detect their mood by those typed words. Shortened sentences or pauses between replies can indicate a low or down mood. Constant chatter, rushed sentences, and frequent topic changes can be from a high or mania.
The written word shows emotion if we just listen.
